Celebrating Victory Day in Mumbai
On the eve of the Great Victory Day Russian Center for Science and Culture in Mumbai hosted a solemn concert, actions «Immortal Regiment» and «The St. George Ribbon», as well as the opening of the exhibition of the Victory Museum “Dialogue of Generations”.
Consul General H.E. Mr Aleksei Surovtsev addressed the guests with a welcoming speech. H.E. Mr Aleksei Surovtsev stressed that “it is impossible to overestimate the contribution of the Soviet people to the victory over fascism. The USSR paid the highest price for peace and freedom. Our task is to convey to the younger generation of grandchildren and great-grandchildren the memory of the Great Patriotic War and of each of the 27 million Soviet citizens who died in it. To fight nazism and fascism today is our sacred duty”.
More than 100 people attended the event, including the Consuls General of Belarus, China, Vietnam, Brazil, the Consul of Iran, representatives of the diplomatic corps, teachers and students of universities and colleges, compatriots, veterans and journalists.
At the evening Russians and Indians performed with poems and songs dedicated to war and victory. The main performance was a literary and musical composition prepared by children from the school of the Consulate General of Russia in Mumbai.
